Ecology Center of the Siskiyous (ECOS) and the Health Promotion Office of the Student Health & Wellness Center are partnering for a series of workshops this winter term. We are taking an empowerment approach as we want students, faculty, staff, & community members to learn health benefits of certain foods, and also how to produce them.
Our first event of this term was a fun workshop all about Sprouting. The second focused on Fermented Foods. For our 3rd Winter Term event, ECOS Garden Outreach Coordinator, Honore Depew, will demonstrate how to make the popular drink Kombucha. Kombucha is a healthful, living tonic/beverage consumed for thousands of years in the East. We'll briefly discuss the history and health benefits of Kombucha, yet the primary focus will be on how to make it yourself. Hope you can join us!!
