We Don't Need Libraries Anymore, Do We?
Dahlgreen, Oregon State Librarian, will be speaking at Southern Oregon
University’s Hannon Library about the changing role libraries now play in
today’s society. This lecture, sponsored by the Friends of Hannon Library, will
take place Thursday, March 21, at 4 p.m. in the library’s Meese Meeting Room,
Dahlgreen began her career as a library assistant in Fairbanks, Alaska. Over
the years she earned her Masters of Librarianship and moved on to become a
children’s librarian at the Albany Public Library. She was appointed the Oregon
State Librarian in 2012. Prior to her appointment, she had over sixteen years
of experience working at the State Library as Library Development Program
Manager and Youth Services Consultant, as well as many years of service in
various positions at other libraries. She has been involved in many library and
literacy programs and, in 2003, received the Evelyn Sibley Lampman Award for
significant contribution to Oregon in the fields of children’s literature and
